I manage delivery of the Restart Programme for Cosmic. Building on the Government’s ‘Plan for Jobs’, this is a large-scale intensive employment support offer to help Universal Credit claimants who have been unemployed for over 12 months.
The training is delivered by a team of digital trainers working across the South West and is designed to be personalised, engaging and flexible, improving life-chances for individuals and their families, supporting economic recovery and delivering wider benefits for society.
I studied Geography at University of Greenwich before working in policy development for local authorities in London and the South East and moving to Devon in 2001. I spent 5 years with the South West Regional Assembly helping to formulate a regional spatial strategy for the South West, before a change of government in 2010 put paid to my then employer. I retrained as a teacher and taught for 7 years, after which I moved to an education support services contractor delivering on behalf of local authorities in the South West.
Family and friends take up most of my time outside of work, as well as playing tennis when I can and getting out and about. I recently completed the south west coast path, starting in Poole and proceeding with the sea on our left. The guidebooks have it all wrong!
