Otter Valley Association were already a website client of Cosmic’s, but approached the web team to give their website a new lease of life.
A new design was required, in addition to some extensive development work on the OVA’s main website feature – the OVApedia. The OVApedia is a searchable directory of over one hundred and sixty individually researched articles covering a diverse range of subjects from short biographies of interesting people who have lived in East Devon to more general ones. General articles include such diverse topics as: glossaries of local place names; analyses of populations from censuses; early schooling in East Budleigh; history of the pebblebed heaths; descriptions of the carved bench-ends of All Saints; Gilpin's Grade I listed Bicton parkland; ship building in the Otter estuary in Tudor and Stuart times; smuggling; coastguards; even how to make a traditional withy crab pot.
In addition to the OVApedia, there was a need to publish news and events so website visitors could get a good idea of what was happening in the area, as well as sharing photo galleries, information on volunteering and much more.
This was accompanied by a design crafted by Cosmic’s developers to show off the beauty of the Otter Valley and East Devon, using high quality images of the local landscape.
