Verity Baum - getting to know you

We asked the latest addition to the Cosmic team all about her experiences with us so far and what she's most looking forward to about working for Cosmic.

What do I do here?

As an IT Trainer I provide one to one support, deliver training programmes and workshops to a variety of audiences, helping both individuals and companies to achieve their goals through raising their awareness with all of the aspects associated with digital technology.

What is my favourite part about working here so far?

My experience so far at Cosmic has been great. The people are fantastic and have been so welcoming. Their knowledge is something at this stage I can only aspire to, but know that as I settle in to my new role I shall gain a vast and large array of information which I will take forward so that I am able support others in the same way that I have been supported.

How is Cosmic different to the other places I have worked?

Cosmic is a very different place to work if I compare that to my 11 year career within the financial sector. Having worked for a large blue chip company previously you can get lost in the system but here I have already begun to experience what value I will be able to add as an individual to Cosmic. This I fully believe even at this early stage will be a welcomed contribution.

What do I do outside of work?

I love music and am a fully fledged Glastonbury festival goer. I am a self-confessed gadget geek and also enjoy travelling to find different places which are off the beaten track.

What is my claim to fame?

I was on a flight between Bangladesh and India and Mother Teresa was on board.  I was returning from a track and field event with my school which was based in New Delhi.  As the youngest member of the team I presented Mother Teresa with our donation to her cause - she was very tiny! Even at 12 years old I was about a foot taller than her. A memory I will never forget.

Interesting fact about me

I grew up abroad and never called the UK my home until I was in my twenties. I also used to be a police officer.
