Nick Smith is one of Cosmic's newest members of staff, so we asked him some questions about himself so you can get to know him a little bit better.
1. What do you do here at Cosmic?
I am the Digital Trainer for the Positive People Project in Devon South. So, I will be delivering support and training to the project participants, helping them make best use of what digital has to offer.
2. What’s your favourite part about the job, and what are you most excited about doing?
I genuinely like helping people, imparting knowledge and developing skills. So, I’m most looking forward to getting out there with the participants, delivering the training that will help them move closer to achieving their goals.
3. What do you like most about Cosmic?
The people! Everyone is friendly, welcoming and approachable and there is a real sense of working towards a common goal.
4. What is the most interesting thing about you or that you have done?
I still have some of my milk-teeth!
I worked on Gary Barlow’s “Open Road” video.
I once sailed across the Channel in a force 8 gale. It’s something you only really want to do once, but that was quite interesting!
5. Are you Apple or Android?
I was an early Apple adopter and I still like their design approach and connectivity. But to be honest, if it does what I want, and actually works, I’ll take it.
6. What are your hobbies or interests?
I make my own cider using apples from the trees in our garden. I also make crumbles.
I love being outdoors, whether that is simply pushing the lawn mower round the garden or walking the dogs, to hiking on Dartmoor or paddling my canoe. This makes Devon pretty much the perfect place to live!
A while ago I realised I hadn’t read a book for ages, so now I have a rule with myself that I must always have a book I am reading.
I guess my main hobby is my children! Not just because I love them dearly, which I do obviously, but I realised they were going to take up so much time and expense I’d better get the most out of it!
