6 questions for new team member Lauren Stevens

Lauren StevensLauren Stevens is one of Cosmic's newest members of staff, so we asked her some questions about herself so you can get to know her a little bit better.

1. What do you do here at Cosmic?

I am the Finance Coordinator for the Devon and Somerset Positive People projects – I work behind the scenes supporting our team. I deal with lots of numbers and completing all things finance-y.

2. What’s your favourite part about the job, and what are you most excited about doing?

I am a self-confessed nerd, and love making things organised, neat and tidy. Creating or re-organising a spreadsheet is always good fun. I love that my job involves being very methodical and accurate. I can spend days and hours working on one task to have it complete, correct and ready to submit – I’m exciting about getting to that point!

3. What do you like most about Cosmic?

The friendly atmosphere, we have a great team - including good communication, a welcoming and approachable vibe. No question feels like a stupid one and it puts you at ease when imbedding into a new role. Cosmic can acknowledge and praise good work, and are keen to implement CPD with their employees. This makes you feel valued.

4. What is the most interesting thing about you or that you have done?

I love exploring new places and having new experiences. I spent 6 winter months living and working in the Austrian Alps for a UK tour operator. I had never been skiing or snowboarding before this, so I used this amazing opportunity to learn both. I then spent 3 summer months in Italy, working on Lake Garda for the same company. This was also a great opportunity to learn basic Italian phrases, swim in the beautiful lake and of course, trying some of the local wines! I then took a detour on the way home and visited various other European countries. I plan to one day venture further to Asia, Australia and South America!

5. Are you Apple or Android?

I’m Android, and have always been Android. I’ve never really got the hype for Apple products! But I appreciate that Apple have great accessibility features, and might one day step out of my comfort zone and purchase an Apple product.

6. What are your hobbies or interests?

I’m probably at my happiest when it’s a lovely sunny day, and I take a bike ride along the river with my headphones in just taking in the scenery. I’m almost always listening to music, and I’m always taking photos of all the amazing places I’ve visited. I love to spend time with my family and friends, whether it’s a day trip out, or a night in playing trivial pursuit – but I can get quite competitive!
