Well, 2017 is getting off to a very exciting start here at Cosmic with two major new projects approved, and two more due for decision any day now. Its wonderful to come back after the break to a sense of new opportunities and some truly great work to be done.
The two projects, Positive People Devon, and Positive People Somerset, will be delivering digital inclusion support across the two counties for the next three years. Cosmic is working in a close partnership with Pluss who is the lead organisation, and also (in Devon) with Westward Pathfinder, Tomorrows People, Devon Community Foundation, Plymouth Octopus Project and Torbay Community Development Trust; and (in Somerset) Inspired-to-Achieve, Abilities and the Community Council for Somerset. It’s a great partnership model and one which offer unique opportunities to make sure we get lots more disadvantaged people into regular use of digital to support their move into employment and further career opportunities. Employability is the key objective for these projects and we will aim to work with those people with severe issues and challenges including those with disabilities, people with multiple and complex needs, including people suffering from poor mental health.
And so, we are now looking for the right people to join our team to support these projects. Needless to say we want to attract the most motivated people, and those with a clear understanding and commitment to social impact and digital inclusion. And so, whilst we’re keen to find some new digital talent too, the right attitude and values will play a big part in our selection process. It’s vital to us that people with great inter-personal skills and with experience (including their own) of digital disadvantage and barriers to employment consider themselves right for these roles – and are not put off by the digital skills dimension (after all - we can teach those!).
