Next Steps Tutors have been selected as a finalist for ‘Start-up of the Year’ by the Devon Women in Business Awards.
Cosmic has been delivering digital skills training to individuals, businesses and organisations across the South West for more than two decades.
We love to recognise and celebrate the success of participants who gain valuable digital skills from working with us. Sarah Logan of Next Steps Tutors is a shining example of this as her and her business partner Liz are celebrating being nominated for Start-up of the Year 2022.
Sarah’s story
Sarah was originally set up as a sole trader in 2020 with her business Sarah Logan Tutoring. When starting out Sarah accessed digital skills training from Cosmic via our Digital Advantage (North Devon) programme. Through this she accessed a variety of fully-funded workshops specifically around digital marketing which included: getting started on social media, creating marketing materials using Canva, understanding Google Ads, copywriting and creating a digital marketing strategy.
“I learnt something from every single workshop I attended, and it really helped me understand the tools I needed to use to launch and promote my new business online. After attending the workshops, I also had several 1-1 workshops with Silvia, who helped discuss my goals and ideas and work these into a clear plan and strategy. She also provided advice to help me build my own website in Wix.
The skills I learned from these training sessions were invaluable when starting out and getting my business off the ground. I still use the skills I learnt every day, especially when writing copy for my social media posts.

In early 2022, Sarah joined forces with another teacher, Dr Liz Fancourt, and they formed Next Steps Tutors. Since then they have taken the business from strength to strength.
“We now have 15 tutors working for us across the UK, each with specialist subject skills to provide the very best tuition for children from Year 1 to GCSE. We are in the final stages of becoming Government Partners for the National Tutoring Programme and have started working with the Devon Inclusion Team, providing alternative provisions to children who cannot attend school, which are fantastic milestones for our business.
We are both thrilled with our nomination for new business Start-up of the year 2022 ad can’t wait for the result to be announced, so watch this space.”
