Julie Hawker Chairs Engaging Citizens Panel on Cost of Living and Future of Money in Plymouth

Julie Hawker, CEO at Cosmic also has a role in supporting the work of the Bank of England. This role is a voluntary one and involves chairing Citizens Panel events in the SW region. These panel events are designed to provide people from all walks of life the opportunity to hear from senior bank staff and participate in discussions on key topics.

Last night’s event was in Plymouth at the Memory Matters Hub and proved once again the value of this interaction and the information generated. The topics discussed were the impact of the cost-of-living crisis and the future of money. Both subjects generated a great deal of debate and examples of how people’s perspectives can differ strongly, but also some key points of agreement.

Representing the Bank of England was Catherine Mann who is an external member of the Monetary Policy Committee and also Jamie Barber the Deputy Agent for the SW.
