We work with a wide array of organisations and businesses, empowering people to feel confident in learning new digital skills and grow their business.
Visit Dartmoor was established in 2014 as the Official Destination Marketing Organisation for Dartmoor, tasked with promoting Dartmoor as a superb holiday destination and supporting around 160 tourism businesses in the area.
Although they are the official Tourism Delivery Partner to Dartmoor National Park Authority, Visit Dartmoor is a privately owned business and does not receive any public funding. It’s run by Jenny How & Simon Lloyd, and revenue is provided by membership, website advertising and website design (Simon is a graphic designer).
Jenny discovered Cosmic whilst working as a volunteer at the Museum of Dartmoor Life. She was tasked with some admin responsibility and set up a Facebook page. Cosmic were running a workshop at the time on Beginners Social Media, so Jenny went along and was so impressed with the session, how it was organised, and she learnt so much. From then Jenny has attended many of Cosmic's workshops, on everything from Digital Marketing to Websites & SEO, as well as organising workshops with Cosmic for Visit Dartmoor members.
Most recently, Jenny attended a series of Cosmic workshops funded by the Prince's Countryside Fund. Jenny also benefited from a 1:1 session with Fiona, who provided specific help with Instagram. Jenny says:
"Fiona put me at ease within the first 20 seconds, she was so down to earth, friendly and approachable so I was not afraid to ask questions and she was so good at explaining things in simple, understandable terms".
Following the session, Jenny is now using Instagram in a much more efficient way, engaging with followers, and creating more of a community. The notes and resources provided by Fiona are constantly referred to and have become a valuable tool.
Through all the training Jenny has received from Cosmic, her skills in all aspects of Social Media and Digital Marketing have greatly improved. Visit Dartmoor’s following has rocketed, reaching many more people and most importantly, the right people. However, the greatest impact the support from Cosmic has had, is on the service Visit Dartmoor are able to provide their members. Jenny can pass on many of the skills she has learnt to her members, meaning the skills and knowledge she has gained is also benefitting many more organisations.
"We are huge fans of Cosmic and quite happy to tell everyone that".
We’re so happy that our workshops have supported Jenny and given her the skills and confidence to grow Visit Dartmoor’s presence, as well as pass on valuable skills and knowledge to others in the community.
This project was funded by The Prince’s Countryside Fund, which is the only UK-wide charity empowering family farms and rural communities to ensure their future.
