Cosmic, a trailblazer in digital inclusion for over 25 years, proudly participated in the pivotal Workforce Digital Skills Summit at The Old Library, Guildhall, London.
Our CEO, Julie Hawker, took a significant step in championing digital inclusivity by officially signing the Workforce Digital Skills Charter, a vital initiative aimed at equipping the UK workforce with essential digital skills for today and tomorrow.
The summit, held on 25th April 2024, brought together leaders from industry, government, and academia to forge a path towards closing the UK’s digital skills gap. It provided a platform to showcase and discuss innovative strategies that organisations like Cosmic are implementing to encourage digital empowerment across all sectors of society.
The event featured a compelling keynote speech by Prof. Simeon Yates, a renowned expert in digital culture, who emphasised the critical need for digital literacy across all demographics. Discussions throughout the day highlighted the challenges and opportunities in digital education, with insights from leading entities such as Accenture, City and Guilds, and the Labour Party.
Julie added:
“At Cosmic, we are committed to the mission of the Workforce Digital Skills Charter, which aligns perfectly with our goal to ensure that everyone has the digital skills they need to succeed. As signatories, we are part of a collaborative effort with over 40 other influential organisations to enhance the nation’s digital capabilities. This commitment underscores our role as a community leader and advocate for digital inclusivity.
As the summit drew to a close, it was clear that the collaborative efforts and commitments made would propel us into a future where digital skills are universally accessible and valued. We are excited to continue leading initiatives that support digital upskilling and look forward to fostering a digitally inclusive future.”
