6 apps to help your productivity

iPhoneThere are many different apps out there that are designed to help make your life easier. However, with so many to choose from, it can be a task in itself to find the right app for your needs.

We have trialled and tested a range of different apps and narrowed it down to six that we believe could help you to stay organised and be more productive with your time. 

1. Evernote

EvernoteWindows, Android and iOS compatible

Evernote is a creative app that allows you to set tasks, make check lists and record reminders. You can annotate your notes with photographs, pictures and free-hand diagrams. You can also attach documents, tag your notes and share them with others. Another unique function of this app is its ability to recognise text and handwriting from your photos, so you can easily search for them. Evernote is free to download with the option to purchase an upgrade.

2. IFTTT (If This Then That)

Mentioned in a previous blog, IFTTT is an app that works with hundreds of other apps to trigger events between them. For example, you can program IFTTT to automatically save photos into Dropbox whenever you are tagged in a photo on Facebook, or to turn the heating on when the GPS on your phone recognises you are approaching your home. There are thousands of possibilities, all of which are designed to help to save you time on day-to-day tasks. IFTTT is free to download.

 

3. Todoist

TodoistWindows, Android and iOS compatible

Todoist allows you to organise your projects at work and home. Use it to schedule, assign and prioritise tasks so you can stay on top of them. You can then share these tasks with colleagues or clients. Upgrade the app in order to set reminders so you don’t forget those important meetings or appointments. Todoist is free to download with in-app purchases.

 

4. Trello

TrelloAndroid and iOS compatible

Trello allows you to share your notes and projects with other users. Use it to collaborate with your colleagues, by sharing checklists, adding attachments and assigning deadlines. You can invite others to your projects and they can add comments or vote for your ideas. You can also organise your projects into categories to make them easier to manage. Trello is free to download.

 

 

5. Wunderlist

WunderlistWindows, Android and iOS compatible

Wunderlist lets you create a simple to-do list for all aspects of your life including work, travel, family and shopping. It converts your tasks into a checklist and allows you to set deadlines and reminders in order to keep track of your busy schedule. Once you have made your list, add notes, attach files and share it with others to make sure you are all on the same page. Wunderlist is free to download.

 

 

6. Xero

XeroAndroid and iOS compatible

Xero is designed for small and medium businesses to keep track of finances and accounts, including bookkeeping, travel expenses and invoices. The app allows you to upload receipts of expenditures and keep records of dates, which are all saved on to the cloud and can be accessed from anywhere. Add multiple users to share with everyone in your workplace. The full version of Xero requires a monthly subscription but there is a free trial available if you want to try before you buy.

 

 

Depending on your lifestyle, you may find it helpful to use more than one app to meet all your needs. With the ability to set reminders and record notes on the go, there will be no more excuses for missing meetings or forgetting birthdays! Which apps can you not go without?
